Syntax
Remarks
The Performance indicator is used in a chart to display the performance of a given instrument as a percentage. This is sometimes also called a normalized chart, as it enables to compare shares with differing price levels. Performance is calculated in relation to a reference point in the past. With
Professional, this reference point is always the first valid share price in the chart document. The indicator value shows the current percentage deviation from that reference point.
The Performance indicator displays the percentage that the instrument has increased since the first displayed period in the chart. If you would like to use a certain reference or starting point in the chart, you may set the date in the Time Regions tab of the Chart Properties dialog box.
If the Performance indicator displays a value of, say, 20, it means that the contract?s price has increased 20% since the first displayed period in the chart. A value of ?20% would mean that the contract?s price has fallen by 20% since the first period displayed.
This indicator is described in more details in the Steve Achelis' book "Technical Analysis from A to Z".
