Hello,

do you consider by any chance a plan to introduce any really down-scaled version of OQ which could be given for free to end users (or for much smaller cost)?
I mean really very limited version not meant for developers but just for end users. Basically some runtime platform only, use case like this:
1) Start software
2) Connect it to IB API
3) Run strategies user bought or downloaded for free
4) Watch performance

That's all. Just something very easy for regular users, so they can execute compiled strategies and watch their account growing. All developing stuff disabled, perhaps simulation engine disabled too.

If something like this were available, a lot developers could start using OQ in order to SELL strategies to end users. It is good for marketing purposes: "Buy this and this strategy and execute in the OpenQuant LITE (tm) which you can use for free"

End users won't like pay 700 EUR (or 50 EUR/month) for development platform like OQ, because they just don't need it, they already paid for the strategy. They don't want to develop anything, they just want to exec it.

This could be good for the whole platform, because:
- more developers attracted to platform, bigger sales (price of current devel package would be kept of course)
- end users using the platform = more publicity, better testing

Just an idea to consider 8)

Hi,

this is probably a good idea, and we have already implemented it in our former software suite (QuantDeveloper vs. CATS), but I am rather sceptical about end users who are not willing or can not afford to pay 50 EUR/mo to run a strategy that trades real money

Cheers,
Anton

This is very intresting idea. Please consider it.

As I mentioned, we already have this application (CATS, Canned Automated Trading Strategies) developed with exactly this idea in mind. See screenshorts #2, 3, 4, 5 on this page http://smartquant.com/screen.php

Thanks for answer Anton.
I'd like to check CATS. Is there any demo this application?
