Hello guys,

I've been deleting a bunch of instruments (along with their Quote and Trade data) via OQ2014's GUI, however the instruments.data file located here C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\SmartQuant Ltd\OpenQuant 2014\data stays the same size.

The version of oq2014 I am using is 1.0.6226.32015 64 bit

Any idea why this is?

Thanks

Hello,
after deleting instruments from the file instruments.quant some of information will remain be in file(for recovering purposes).
In result size of the file can be same.

I see. Any tips on how I can make the instruments.data file smaller? My hard drive is almost out of space and it seems to stay the same size no mater how much data I delete.

Is my only option to delete the entire instruments.data file then re-import just the data I want?

Typo correction. I meant to say data.quant file each time I said instruments.data in this thread.

Anyway, the question remains. The data.quant file stays the same size (due to your recovery tool) when I delete historical data. I need the data.quant file to become smaller because my hard drive is out of space.

Is there a way to make the data.quant file smaller when deleting historical data? I know I can delete the data.quant file entirely and re-import just the data I want to keep from .CSV files, but that takes many days (since I am importing terabytes of data) and is not really practical for me to do each time I need to delete a small amount of data.

We have the tool (FileManager.WPF.exe) for working with .quant files.
You can use this tool for recovering .quant files.
Additionally it will rewrite all data and file will be smaller in case when some data was deleted.
You can find the tool in OpenQuant2014 folder.
