Hello,

I am trying to access data in OQ out of Visual Studio. I thought something like this should be working:

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using OpenQuant.API;

namespace ConsoleApplication1
{
class Program
{
static void Main(string[] args)
{

BarSeries barSeries = DataManager.GetHistoricalBars(InstrumentManager.Instruments["QQQQ"], BarType.Time, 86400);
Console.WriteLine(barSeries.Last);

}
}
}

But I cannot get a connection to the data.

Error: Could not load file or assembly 'SmartQuant.Instruments, Version=1.0.4190.25710, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I am using VS 2010 on a 64 bit machine running Windows 7.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

actually you can use OQ API only within OQ IDE. This is one of limitations that was introduced due to our agreement with QuantHouse.

BTW, although you can not develop stand alone applications with OQ API, you can stilll use the API in VisualStudio, viewtopic.php?f=64&t=7381

BTW, I was trying to incorporate StockChartX from modulusfe.com.
In order to spice up the charting capabilities of OQ.
Does anybody have experience with their code??

Hi,

.NET 4 comes with a nice built-in chart control, you can try it out.

On the other hand, we are currently working on a new version of our core framework and we want to improve our charting capabilities. Your suggestions are welcome.

Regards,
Anton
