Mission
Our mission is to provide emerging and growing quant managers with an industrial-strength strategy development, backtesting, optimization and automation platform that fits their budgets and scales with growth - with uncompromising quality, speed, and adaptability.
History
1998: Anton Fokin initially developed the predecessor of the SmartQuant framework as an open-source project, adapting complex data-processing frameworks originally created for nuclear physics research.
2000: The framework was licensed to Fortis Bank, where Anton led its adaptation for portfolio optimization and statistical arbitrage as an internal project.
2003: Anton left Fortis and founded SmartQuant as an independent firm, developing a fully-fledged trading platform solution built on the latest MS C# and .NET technology.
2007: SmartQuant technology was licensed for exclusive distribution to institutional clients by QuantHouse S.A., a leading French financial software firm. Clients included Societe Generale Asset Management, QIM, Fysics Capital, Global Capital, and others.
2007-2012: SmartQuant continued to develop its framework and new products, focusing on sales to retail investors, growing to several thousand installations worldwide, and building a devoted following and user ecosystem among quant developers and traders.
2012: The QuantHouse exclusive license ended when QuantHouse was acquired by Standard & Poor's CapitalIQ subsidiary. SmartQuant retained its IP and full rights.
Today: SmartQuant has entered a new phase of its history. The new SmartQuant platform is currently in active research and development, bringing the company's established trading framework and product experience into a modern integrated platform with new applications and AI-assisted strategy development and research.
